Satoshi Nakamoto reportedly thought of this other name for Bitcoin

A curious discovery suggests that Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, may have thought of other names for Bitcoin before bringing it to light. This stems from the fact that one day before the internet domain bitcoin.org was created, the domain name netcoin.org was registered.

According to a publication on Twitter by Or Weinberger, a cryptographer who describes himself as someone who recovers lost Bitcoin seeds, the creator of Bitcoin may have created an alternative domain for the main cryptocurrency.

According to historical Internet domain registration data from AnonymousSpeech, a Japanese service that allows people to create anonymous websites, the name netcoin.org was created a day earlier than the name bitcoin.orgAug. 17, 2008.

Or Weinberger confirmed that the netcoin.org domain never had any registered content “until someone else bought it back later.”

That’s interesting, I’m glad they chose Bitcoin, it sounds much better.

Despite investigations by numerous people, no one has been able to determine who Satoshi Nakamoto was. And the concrete steps he took to create Bitcoin. However, there has been much speculation about the origins of the main cryptocurrency.
